A good Healer, Guide, Therapist, Coach...
Is one who does not guide, but shines light on a person's deepest desires and blocks.
Not a guide, Not a prophet, Not a guru telling you just what to say or do
But a candle in the dimly lit library of existence.
The only dictionary you need is already open.
BEWARE OF PERFORMATIVE THERAPY ABUSE
INDUSTRY EXAMPLES: Life Coaching, Yoga Instruction, Chiropractic and other Bodywork Modalities ie “Somatics”, Fitness Instructors and Trainers, Meditation “Gurus” (Entrepreneurial Grifts)
Here are Red Flags to help you identify abusers...
Integrating “life coaching” with chiropractic, online Instagram pseudo-counseling, etc. to control and exploit people for personal gain
Allowing and encouraging transference and counter transference to control and exploit
Use of Thought Stopping Cliches, “word salad”
Love-bombing
PseudoFeminism to attract and exploit girls/women
Inappropriate touching, energetic sexual violation
Use of a “coaching script”
Asking intrusive and provocative questions about the student/client/patient about themselves and others in their life
Making predictions in the first meeting about how successful a 6+ month program will be
Encouraging radicalized eating and exercise plans
Undefined boundaries (texting, sharing social media, spending time outside of business as “friends” ie. Hikes, camping, hanging out, drug/alcohol use together, parties, meals
Encouraging “Magical Thinking” (ie The Secret, A Course in Miracles, etc)
Adjusting/Physically Manipulating students without a Bodywork License
Use of Sound Bite Shortcuts to achieve a “freeze response” in the victim, confusing them and making them more suggestible, exploiting them by using their needs and fears to control them (ie. “You create your own reality”, “stop acting like a victim and you will be empowered”)
Use of aspirational promises to keep enrolling people deeper into a sales funnel by always identifying a sense of lack or anxiety in the client
Person on receiving end can feel paralyzed by power dynamic
Use of Psychological “cold reading” with scripted responses to objections to wear the client/student/patient down
