Body cells must have healthy membranes

The immune system is responsible for keeping the body free of infection and malignancies.  Factors for making a healthy immune system:

KEY FACTOR - Body cells must have healthy membranes

  1. Each of the trillions of cells making up the body has a membrane around it.

  2. The membrane is composed primarily of lipids with a light scattering of protein.

  3. BOTTOM LINE ... The health of the body depends on the health of the cells.  The health of the cells depends on the integrity of the cell membranes, because it controls what goes in and out of the cell.  The integrity of the cell membrane is greatly influenced by the quality of the lipids making the membrane

  4. From a nutritional standpoint, this means we must provide the body with lipids that have the right balance of EFAs and have not been subjected to oxidation

When the right lipids are not provided by the foods we eat, the body uses whatever is available to form the cell membranes.  This results in a weakening of the cell membrane, which among other things is more vulnerable to viruses.
